Oral Sedation

If you feel anxious about receiving dental treatment, you may consider oral sedation. Dr. Jolley and his staff are trained in oral sedation as well as nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas). A patient undergoing oral sedation simply takes a pill before the dental procedure to help him or her relax. If the pill doesn't relax the patient enough, Dr. Jolley can add the nitrous oxide to the oral sedation.

To ensure the safety of the patient during oral sedation, a well-trained staff member monitors the patient's vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, respiration rate, and oxygen saturation) at regular intervals during the procedure. Also, we keep emergency medications available in case of an adverse reaction to the sedation or for other medical emergencies.

We have found oral sedation helpful for wisdom teeth removal, for young children receiving any dental treatment, and for a fearful patient.
